Nuts and bolts: Nicole DeCosta is an award-winning newspaper editor, radio correspondent and TV host in Portland, Oregon, and winner of more nearly 35 awards from the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association and the Society of Professional journalists. Still working a desk job in addition to her profitable media company — PR work, video editing, event hosting and hosting two TV shows — she hopes to also inspire women to transition into the jobs they’ve imagined and to live life on their own terms. She’s well on her way. She makes a great talk show host.
TV, radio and print personality“Some people tell stories, but you donʼt get any credit if no one remembers them. I prefer the Bill Cosby approach — grab the audienceʼs attention; tell compelling stories; and entertain through relatable messages about real life. I canʼt think of an industry more exciting than the media world and more tailored to my talents — perhaps thatʼs because Iʼve been doing this type of work for years.” — Nicole
Nicole also hosts and produces the TV show “Portland Living,” aired through Willamette Falls Media Center. She is also the host of the station’s show “Your Community’s News” and has guest-hosted segments on FOX, KGW, PDX49, Earth2World Network and KOIN in Portland. She appeared in a statewide commercial for First Federal Bank and a national Food Network commercial demonstrating cooking equipment. She recently was a stand-in on NBC’s “GRIMM.”
A gifted journalist who has nearly 35 awards for her writings from the Society of Professional Journalists and Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association, Nicole never seems to run out of words. She was the editor of the West Linn Tidings newspaper and a journalist with the Tidings and Lake Oswego Review for nearly eight years — with additional articles printed in the Portland Tribune, Oregon City News, The Bee, Beaverton Valley Times and The Times; Style and L.O. magazines before being promoted to associate editor with the company. She also writes press releases, website material, newsletters, advertisements and short filmed segments through her business Nicole DeCosta Media (www.nicoledecostamedia.com). She is excited to spend the majority of her marketing efforts on a large, homebuilding company in the Portland area.
Nicole is formerly the lead singer for the Portland pop-rock group Macadam — which released the full-length album “History of the Future” in 2007 — and just released her 5-song EP “Escape” (www.eonrecords.com). The songs “Escape” and “What Am I Supposed To Do” from the album were featured in three local, independent films. DeCosta won second place in Oregon State University’s 2005 “Best Singer/Songwriter Competition.”

EMCEE / MISTRESS OF CEREMONIES:
Dubbed “the hostess with the mostest,” Nicole’s positive attitude and team-oriented spirit has landed her on stages nationally — at the New Orleans House of Blues; The Mohegan Sun Conference Center in Conn.; and Portland’s Downtown Marriott, Newmark Theater and The Roseland, among others — bringing her one-of-a-kind bottled up enthusiasm as an emcee. She helps coordinate the event’s stage schedule in addition to helping to execute a memorable event, whether it be for a corporate client or a New Year’s Eve celebration. She’s fun, she’s polished, and she gives a lot of high-fives and smiles throughout the events she hosts. She’ll host the raffle, introduce the bands/acts, rev the crowd and — at the end of the night — help with clean-up. Oh, and if you need a red carpet host/interviewer to grab comments from arriving guests, she’s also done that for five years in a row for the Oregon Music Hall of Fame.
